A new look at extreme sports with an interactivive focus on three of its particulars

To some, extreme sports athletes are considered courageous and inspirational, while others look upon them as nothing more than a group of “adrenaline junkies”. Compared to traditional athletes, men and women who partake in extreme sports are certainly different in look, style, and in how they carry themselves, in general. But contrary to popular belief, the best extreme sports athletes are rarely reckless—upon a closer look, you will find that most are daring perfectionists and safety-conscious experts who can be said to specialize in risk assessment, or risk management.

Extreme sports, no doubt, come in all shapes and sizes and are ever growing in number. People take part in them all over the planet: on land, in the air, underwater, on the highest mountain peaks, and everywhere in between. Although it has no set definition, the general convention for any sport to be considered “extreme” is to be adrenalin-driven and have an aura of danger and risk to it, as well as, to a certain extent, the perception of it being “subversive”, or “counter-cultural”.
