Delhi – visas, cultural centers

Extension of visas and other documents

W Foreigners’ Registration Office (Foreigners Registration Office), which is located in Hans Bhavan, near the Tilak Bridge train station, you obtain permits to enter restricted areas, such as, for example, Asam. In this chaotic place, where you still work without a plan and organization, with gentle pressure and urgency, permission can be obtained surprisingly quickly. Four photos are needed; they can be done immediately, cheaply, at the photographer's outside. The office is open every day. from 9.30 do 13.30 and from 14.00 do 16.00.

Willing to stay in India a few more days, at the same office they will obtain a 15-day visa extension. However, applicants for a visa for a longer period, they should first get a special print from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Ministry of the Interior) on the Khan Market, and then deliver it to the Foreigners' Registration Office (Foreigners Registration Office; about 15 INR for access by rickshaw). Extension of the visa by 15 the days are usually free, while extending the visa for one month costs already 800 INR (required 4 photo). When, and if any, consent to extend the visa will be issued, you should go back to the ministry, where, on the basis of this consent, an extension is obtained. It is extremely difficult to obtain an extension of a 6-month visa; Now, in most cases this is rather unrealistic. If your stay in India lasted longer than 6 months, you must obtain a "tax exemption certificate" before returning to the country. To do this, you need to go to the Foreign Section of the Income Tax Department (the foreign section of the Income Tax Division; (**3317826), which is located just around the corner from Hans Bhavan, at Central Revenue lłuilding on Vikas Marg and showing evidence of the cash changeover. It is quite likely, that when leaving India no one
will not ask for this certificate. The office closed. from 13.00 do 14.00.

Export of any items with over 100 years requires a permit. When in doubt, contact the head of Indian Antiquities: Director Antiquities, Archeological Survey of India Janpath, *3017220 (Archaeological Research Facility).
