Delhi – Gastronomy

Rejon Pahargadźu

The Main Bazaar in Pahargańja brings together many cheap restaurants, which most willingly pimple tourists from abroad. They are situated along the west end of the Main Bazaar. The Diamond Cafe and Lords Cafe at Hotel Vishal have a good selection of cheap food. The bakery with garlic at Lords Cafe is worth recommending. The Diamond Cafe menu is a perfect example of flawlessly broken English. A popular restaurant is Leema on the Vivek's rooftop terrace.

The Appetite restaurant is part of the Hotel Vishal building, adjacent to Lords Cafe. The kitchen here is the same as in the previous premises, maybe a bit more exquisite. The main attraction is not the tasty pizzas, but cable TV, thanks to which you can watch international sports programs, especially cricket reports. Tb attracts many tourists.

A bit further on the Main Bazaar there are booths with tables in the street, which offer light snacks and good tea at very low prices.

Air-conditioned Metropolis, in the hotel of the same name, right after Rajguru Rd, offers much more expensive meals than other restaurants, worth the money though.

Old Delhi

In Old Delhi, at the western end of Chandni Chauk, many restaurants await the guests. Inderpuri restaurant has good vegetarian dishes, Giani offers a tasty dosa masala. Is said to be, that the best Indian sweets in Delhi can be bought in Ghantewala, to Chaudni Cauk, near Siganj Gurdwara. You can also get tasty meals in the Nagrik restaurant belonging to Dehli Tourism (Delhi Tourism Board).

There are two well-known more expensive restaurants specializing in tanduri in Old Delhi. First, Tandoor, at the President Hotel, Asaf Ali Rd, next to the campsite (Tourist Camp), has great service (two waiters), in addition, through the glass panneau you can see the tanduri kitchen. Eating is made more pleasant by the sounds of a traditional Indian sitar.

Near, on the same street, at the Broadway Hotel, the Chor Bazaar restaurant is located ("Thieves bazaar"). It took a lot of effort to arrange the restaurant; inside, there are amazing items from various bazaars, for example, a four-poster bed, old sports car (serves as a salad bar) and an old cello. The kitchen is good, though not sensational, main course costs from 60 do 150 INR.

Right behind the corner, next to Netaji Subhash Marg, on Darajganga, works old, the famous Mott Mahal restaurant. It is worth ordering tanduri dishes here, for example murga musalam. The portions are huge, and late in the evening, except Tuesdays, Muslim singers give concerts (kawwali).

Na anakjapuri, in the elegant Santushti shopping center (tooth. section What to buy) Basil Restaurant is open & Thyme, visited by ladies in silk and shiny saris, gold jewelry. It's worth seeing. The kitchen and service are outstanding, very high prices.

Defense Colony is one of the elegant neighborhoods on the outskirts of Delhi, and the mall here attracts middle-class people from Delhi, who in the evenings, especially on weekends, they come here with their whole families. Colonel's Kababz offers kebabs, tanduri dishes and seafood. Meals are eaten standing or in your own cars (the waiters are indecently urging you). The cuisine of the Sagar restaurant is considered to be the best South Indian cuisine in all of Delhi; on weekends, the queue to the restaurant is often measured 20 m!

Hotel restaurants

According to the residents of Delhi, the best cuisine can boast of the restaurants of large 5-star hotels. Bukhara Restaurant, at the Maurya Sheraton Hotel, it is considered the best in the city. She recommends tanduri dishes, the kitchen of Peshawar (in NW. Pakistan) and Central Asian cuisines. It is a suitable place for gourmets… large portions of meat dishes; main course: 200-350 INR. The hotel has a second restaurant /)///;! Phukt, named after the type of cuisine, that the Navabas of Awadhu created (Lucknow) about 300 years ago. Some dishes are covered with a layer of patty and thanks to the steam they come out, and they taste like no other. This is a very original way of preparing meals for two plus drinks around 500 INR. Shatranj cafe, also in this hotel, serves a good bar dinner; the menu changes every day.

The Claridges Hotel has several restaurants. Dhaba offers the usual, simple dishes and is decorated like a dhaba restaurant; Jade Garden in the form of a bamboo grove, specializes in Chinese cuisine; Pickwick restaurant, with 19th-century English décor, serves European dishes; while the Corbetts restaurant is inspired by the fame of the great tiger hunter Jim Corbett, has the appearance of a hunting camp, along with recorded jungle sounds.
